save the world Hungry Crocodiles Ambush Zebras | Wildlife Attacks and Take Downs

Hungry Nile crocodiles ambush migrating zebras crossing the Mara River in Kenya, East Africa. Some 250,000 zebras and over 1 million wildebeest following rainfall patterns make the seasonal migration between Serengeti National Park in Tanzania and Kenya's Masai Mara National Reserve. They stay in Masai Mara for approximately three months, repeatedly crossing the Mara River during that period.

As predators, Nile crocodiles play an important role in the food chain. The body remains of zebra and wildebeest they don't consume become important sources of food and nutrients for the river ecosystem. Wildebeest drownings in rushing river waters far outnumber deaths by crocodiles.

Filmed by Brian Heath, executive director of the Mara Conservancy, a non-profit Kenyan organization responsible for managing the Mara Triangle of the Maasai Mara National Reserve. Brian's intimate knowledge of the Mara ecosystem has allowed him to capture some of the most compelling African wildlife videos.
