Things are getting crazy on the set of the next Transformers movie and we’re breaking it all down for you right now! It looks like King Arthur won’t be the only legendary Brit we’ll see in next year’s Transformers: The Last Knight. Love them or hate them, director Michael Bay isn’t afraid to take his Transformers franchise in unexpected directions and it looks like he’s prepared to go all out for his (reportedly) final film behind the camera. It was revealed early on in the film’s production that “King Arthur” and “Merlin” will play some role in the film’s story and now it looks like World War II Prime Minister Winston Churchill and Hitler will as well. The film is currently in production in the UK and late last week Bay and his team were hit with some controversy when it was revealed that the film will feature a scene with Churchill’s birthplace of Blenheim Palace acting as headquarters for Hitler. Huge Nazi flags were spotted draped over the mansion and needless to say some war veterans were not happy, calling it disrespectful to Churchill. Now, Michael Bay himself has addressed the controversy telling the BBC quote, “I just want to say people were not fortunate enough to read the script and they don’t know that Churchill in this movie is a big hero. And Churchill would be smiling about The Last Knight. They haven’t seen the movie, they don’t know the ending, and they don’t know how Churchill is a hero. So, as the staff said, ‘He’d be smiling right now.’” Bay went on to say that he has probably featured more veterans and active military men and women in his films than any other and would never disrespect them. As for whether or not Churchill will actually appear in the film, many have speculated that Anthony Hopkins could potentially be playing the former Prime Minister in the film, though nothing has been confirmed. Hopkins was recently featured in a featurette for the film and was spotted on the streets of London filming a scene last week. Production on the film continued over the weekend with “Bumblebee” and new addition “Hot Rod” spotted filming a chasing scene with the evil “Barricade”. The three raced through the streets of London and even in front of iconic Buckingham Palace. And finally, star Mark Wahlberg recently revealed that the film will see the addition of new “mini-Dinobots” that he thinks fans will go crazy for. What exactly those are or how they’ll fit into the story remains to be seen. So, what do you think of all these new Transformers: The Last Knight details and how do you think Churchill and Hitler will play into the film? Share your thoughts in the comments and then click here to find out what we want to see happen in the movie when it arrives in theaters on June 23rd. I’m Meghan Lamontagne, thanks for watching and we’ll see you soon with more movie news.
